The Scale of Space – Stage 4 (years 7-8)

The Scale of Space is a curriculum-aligned planetarium experience designed for Stage 4 (Years 7–8) students and supports outcomes from the NSW Science Syllabus and Australian Curriculum relating to Earth and Space Sciences.

Students embark on a journey through the universe, exploring the vast scales that separate planets, stars, nebulae, galaxies, and galaxy clusters. Beginning in our own Solar System, they travel outward to investigate the structure of the Milky Way and beyond, developing an understanding of how celestial objects are organised and connected within the cosmos.

Presented in an immersive digital planetarium, the show combines breathtaking visualisations, interactive discussion, and scientific exploration to help students grasp the immense scale of space. By comparing distances, sizes, and structures throughout the universe, students develop a deeper appreciation of their place in the cosmos while reinforcing key concepts in astronomy and space science.
